Customer, Company, Department, You

“Customer, Company, Department, You”  This is a mantra we’ve kicked around for a while and it sums up what we do. It all goes back to you, our customer. When we make decisions, whether it’s with orders or marketing or anything like that, we start with the customer in mind. What will benefit you the most? What is most important to you the customer? How can we be the best help to you? All of those thoughts are the primary driving force behind what we do. Next in the chain is the Company. After we create the best possible scenario for you our customer, the focus goes on what’s best for the company. Are we making the right fiscal decisions to ensure we are a viable company providing a great working environment for our close to seventy employees? We want Silkworm to be one of the best places to work and in order to do so we must focus on the company as a whole. Then we get to the Department. We have several different departments within Silkworm that work harmoniously in order to offer the best possible outcome for our customers. When we make decisions, after we have exhausted the criteria for our customers and the company as a whole, then we look at the departments. How might we tweak a system for a particular department in order to provide quality products with awesome customer service? Finally, we break it down to the individual, the last stop in the line. After we have taken care of our customer, the company, and then the department, it comes down to the individuals working to create the kind of experience that will make you our customer come back and tell your friends about us. What all of this means for you is [...]

Tis’ the Season for Giving: Gifts for Winter

‘Tis the season to put your body to the test! To be blunt, it’s cold; darn cold. You can’t just “wing it” in the winter, so we have come up with a few products that will help you and your customers through this trying time. Hats Winter hats are a must-have during this cold season. When deciding on a hat, two factors that are important are style and functionality. No one wants a hat that’s cute, but doesn’t keep your head warm, or one that is very warm, but makes you look weird. Fleece, knit styles, and even heavy cotton are good options when it comes to picking something warm. If you’re looking to buy hats for a corporate event or for a large group of employees, then check out Cap America’s knit beanie styles. Choose your own custom art, whether it’s cuffed or un-cuffed, and even if you want a pom on the top. These caps are completely customizable. If you’re feeling matchy, they also have scarves that you can personalize as well. Gloves Not everyone likes to wear gloves. In an office survey, only 33% of people actually wear them. There were many reasons why people don’t like them. Three of the most prevalent reasons for not wearing them are: Not being able to use your touch screen phone. They get in the way of doing simple things, such as unlocking a car. They’re bulky and hard to get on and off, quickly. While these are all valid reasons, there are many solutions to these problems. There are special touch screen gloves that allow you to keep them on and still use your phone; there are slim fit styles that are good for dexterity and simple movements, and also fingerless gloves are good for quick removal. Whatever gloves [...]

Promotional Products: A Perfect Advertising Solution

Promotional products are the one of the best form of advertising. Most people like getting something for free.  So why not take advantage of that and slap a company logo on an item?  There are plenty of benefits associated with promotional products for your company. 1. Give and you shall receive, at least most of the time.  A study by L.J. Market Research found 52 percent of participants did business with a company after they were given a promotional item.  The remainder said they’d be more likely to do business with the company because of the item they received. It’s a great way to get a conversation going as well. 2. They’re not going anywhere.  Tangible items have long shelf lives.  TV and radio commercials come and go. Newspaper ads and fliers end up in the recycling bin.  That same study by L.J. Market Research found 71 percent of participants had received an item in the last 12 months and of that group, 33 percent were carrying the product with them.  So chose your giveaways wisely. 3. Receive, use, and repeat.  Repetition comes into play with the right item.  A person could end up seeing your company logo or slogan several times a day depending on what the product is that you’re giving away.  There is potential that others will also be exposed to your message by the initial giveaway. 4. The gift that keeps on giving.  Re-gifting is no fun when you’re the one giving to a friend or family member.  But think of re-gifting as an effective way of getting your brand in more hands and in front of more eyes.  Even if the actual item isn’t passed along, stories and memories about it will be shared.  That form of advertising is immeasurable and can go a long [...]

Get Your Spirit On!

School spirit does not just apply to students, but also alumni, faculty, staff members, and their friends and family. A good mascot and/or team symbol brings a large community of people together for a lifetime. Think about what high school and/or University that you went to. Whether you had a great time or not, that experience is a part of you. Going to basketball and football games on alumni nights are great, because you get to see the former players from forty and fifty years ago, and you still see them in their spirit gear! It’s such a fantastic concept! When preparing your gear for a new school year, make sure you appeal to everyone! Students Students who are still attending school have a unique kind of pride. It comes from being a part of the current student body, and still enjoying their time with their like-minded peers. It is a sense of togetherness that is fueled by everyone representing their team mascot together. Team spirit gear for students is usually best represented in the form of t-shirts! There’s nothing like a free or inexpensive branded t-shirt with the high school or college mascot on the front. Other products like koozies, towels, hoodies, and even cups or tumblers are a useful way to promote spirit as well. The student body is the group that shows their pride in the purest, most unconcealed way, so keep that in mind when designing your merchandise. Alumni, Faculty, and Staff When designing and providing spirit wear for a more adult crowd, t-shirts are a great plan, but it can’t be the only form of merchandise. Cater to their needs with other types of products like polos, office supplies, blankets, coffee mugs, etc. T-shirts are great for when they are going to the Friday night [...]

Fall is almost here! As we unwillingly leave the summer season in the dust, think about how much we have to look forward to! It’s time for pumpkin flavored everything! This means that coffees, candles, beers, and just about anything else you can think of will all soon be orange and spicy, and we’re not complaining. The leaves are falling, our Southern Illinois parks are beautiful, runners can enjoy the outside without the humidity and football is starting! What’s not to love? Cheering on your favorite team, whether it’s football, volleyball, or even sitting out at a local 5K race is something that makes fall so great! In order to not have to deal with the let downs of warm drinks that are meant to be cold, bleacher-butt, and the cool chill of a fall breeze, we have compiled a list of our favorite products to help you celebrate the best season of the year, as it should be! Tailgates and Indoor/Outdoor Sporting Events are both essential parts of enjoying the season, and you always want to make sure that you have everything you need to pre-game like a pro! This season’s products will definitely help you get in the spirit. Tumblers: Whether you are trying to keep hot chocolate hot, or your iced tea cold, tumblers are a great option for any outdoor endeavor. Keep in mind that a custom monogram or event name adds a nice touch when toasting your drink of choice. Koozies: This is an easy one! An absolute must-have with any outdoor event with cold beer or soda! These can be made to fit cans or bottles, and with that cool fall chill, it helps with keeping your hands warm. No one likes warm brew when serving up delicious burgers and dogs! Add a bottle [...]

The Power of Promotional Products

Creating Promotional products and custom apparel are things we do every day, day in, day out so we sometimes forget to notice the power of these products. We create thousands of custom designed products but every time we see one of our products outside of the walls of Silkworm we are reminded of the power and impact these items can carry. The last sporting event you attended you probably wore a custom shirt with your team’s logo and possibly even your child’s name. When you see others, even complete strangers, wearing the same logo apparel you have an immediate connection without saying a word. The apparel may not be your team but possibly your favorite band, alma mater, group, or an event you’ve attended. What other product can you think of that provide that same immediate experience? If you attend college, graduated college or have a child/grandchild/niece/nephew, etc. attending a particular college you probably have a decal, coffee mug, cup, rally towel, sweatshirt, jacket, t-shirt and other custom branded items and apparel featuring the school name or logo. These items don’t represent a brand or a name, they represent pride. Say you go to an event and have an amazing time or donated money or volunteered, you usually get a custom t-shirt or promotional item. Again, these items are more than a cool design, they are mementos. When you walk into a business or organization you look for someone wearing a custom embroidered shirt or vest that signifies that the person wearing the apparel can help you. You may know the person sporting that custom embroidered polo, chances are you just noticed the shirt and were seeking help. Though you don’t know the person in the custom apparel, you automatically seek assistance and have an automatic sense of trust. Next [...]
