by Arsham Mirshah Original Article: http://amabaltimore.org/3139/9-ways-promotional-products-work-for-your-business/ Promotional products are unparalleled in their ability to attract new clients, increase brand awareness and ultimately grow your business. We’ve all heard that phrase “you have to spend money to make money” haven’t we? But what, exactly, are we supposed to be spending our money on? I’ll tell you what.. Promotional Products! They are a proven, cost effective way of marketing your company to an extremely large audience while doing minimal work. Sounds efficient, does it not? If you’re new to the idea of promotional products, I understand that you might be hesitant. Despite any fears you may have, I strongly urge you to continue reading and discover just what quality promotional items can do for your company. 1.) Opening Lines of Communication The law of reciprocity: Give, and you shall receive. More often than not, giving a gift or item to an individual promotes a feeling that he/she should reciprocate for your kind gesture. In terms of promotional products, the giving of a product to someone else will make him or her more likely to do business with you. L.J. Market Research did a study that found 52% of participants given a promotional item, ultimately did business with that company. The remaining 48% of participants said they would be more likely to do business with that company in the future because of their gesture. Giving out promotional products is also a very effective way of starting a conversation with a potential customer. Handing something over allows you to “break the ice” and engage that person in conversation and because you gave them something, he or she is likely to listen to what you have to say. 2.) Drawing Attention “Hey, Hey! Look at ME!” Everyone wants to be the popular table at the trade-show, [...]

Power in Promotion: Promotional Products Work

Creating Promotional products and custom apparel are things we do every day, day in, day out so we sometimes forget to notice the power of these products. We create thousands of custom designed products but every time we see one of our products outside of the walls of Silkworm we are reminded of the power and impact these items can carry. The last sporting event you attended you probably wore a custom shirt with your team’s logo and possibly even your child’s name. When you see others, even complete strangers, wearing the same logo apparel you have an immediate connection without saying a word. The apparel may not be your team but possibly your favorite band, alma mater, group, or an event you’ve attended. What other product can you think of that provide that same immediate experience? If you attend college, graduated college or have a child/grandchild/niece/nephew, etc. attending a particular college you probably have a decal, coffee mug, cup, rally towel, sweatshirt, jacket, t-shirt and other custom branded items and apparel featuring the school name or logo. These items don’t represent a brand or a name, they represent pride. Say you go to an event and have an amazing time or donated money or volunteered, you usually get a custom t-shirt or promotional item. Again, these items are more than a cool design, they are mementos. When you walk into a business or organization you look for someone wearing a custom embroidered shirt or vest that signifies that the person wearing the apparel can help you. You may know the person sporting that custom embroidered polo, chances are you just noticed the shirt and were seeking help. Though you don’t know the person in the custom apparel, you automatically seek assistance and have an automatic sense of trust. Next [...]

My Favorite Promotional Product

What makes a promotional product worth your budget? Is the value measured in the amount of attention you can draw towards your brand? Maybe it is the initial ‘feel good’ effect you create when handing a potential client a tangible object that will be around for a while and is, in most cases, “FREE.” Could the product’s worth be in the usefulness of the item you give, generating goodwill that will likely be reciprocated? All of these and more can be great reasons to consider when choosing the right product but let’s look at the usefulness aspect for a moment. One of the more useful promotional products available may be hiding away in your home right now probably as you read this. It is in a junk drawer somewhere, most likely in your kitchen or perhaps under a sink. You received it from a service guy that repaired one of your home appliances.  Maybe you got it from that trade show you attended or picked up near the counter, as you were checking out, in a box that read, “Take One.” You did not give it a second look until Christmas morning, when your child opens that toy requiring sixteen AA batteries. You didn’t panic since you have the Phillips ES Series Tool that opens the battery compartment with ease, a task your normal size screwdriver would fumble with. The ES tool is a familiar sight and a handy tool that is comfortable with spending most of its life in that junk drawer, waiting for the moment you need it. It is great for toys, small appliances and electronics and is available with many tool top options. Choose from or combine magnet, phillips, straight and hex attachments as well as 16 different barrel color options. Best of all, the ES [...]

Customer, Company, Department, You

By

“Customer, Company, Department, You”  This is a mantra we’ve kicked around for a while and it sums up what we do. It all goes back to you, our customer. When we make decisions, whether it’s with orders or marketing or anything like that, we start with the customer in mind. What will benefit you the most? What is most important to you the customer? How can we be the best help to you? All of those thoughts are the primary driving force behind what we do. Next in the chain is the Company. After we create the best possible scenario for you our customer, the focus goes on what’s best for the company. Are we making the right fiscal decisions to ensure we are a viable company providing a great working environment for our close to seventy employees? We want Silkworm to be one of the best places to work and in order to do so we must focus on the company as a whole. Then we get to the Department. We have several different departments within Silkworm that work harmoniously in order to offer the best possible outcome for our customers. When we make decisions, after we have exhausted the criteria for our customers and the company as a whole, then we look at the departments. How might we tweak a system for a particular department in order to provide quality products with awesome customer service? Finally, we break it down to the individual, the last stop in the line. After we have taken care of our customer, the company, and then the department, it comes down to the individuals working to create the kind of experience that will make you our customer come back and tell your friends about us. What all of this means for you is [...]

Repost: 15 Insane Facts About Promotional Products

Usually, we don’t re-post blogs on this page but we ran across one article that was too good not to share. Natasha Heiberg | 3rd February 2016  The power of the promotional product can sometimes be underestimated. However, many marketing teams will attest to the wide reach and long-lasting impact that promotional products can have. Utilizing them as a part of your marketing strategy can be key in connecting with current clients and reaching out to future clients. To back up our argument, here are some insane facts you probably didn’t know about promotional products. 80% of consumers own between one and ten promotional products. That is a huge portion of the population that is open to accepting your branded items! Out of this 80%, 53% use a promotional product at least once per week. That’s a pretty high chance of active engagement with your promotional products. 60% of these people, will keep a promotional product for up to two years! Only 1 in 5 people will throw away a promotional product. Promotional products can increase your client base by as much as 30% In the US, bags generate more promotional impressions than any other promotional product. A promotional bag has six thousand impressions per bag! Top products are wearables, followed by pens/pencils, bags, calendars and drinkware! Branded drinkware can be more effective than an expensive radio or television advert. A study showed that 57% of people were able to recall an advertiser whose logo was branded on a mug. Only 32% were able to recognise the advertiser from their radio spot and only 28% were able to recognise the advertiser from the television advert. The logo on the mug created a visual impression, and vision is our strongest sense! The first known promotional product was a commemorative button used [...]
