by Arsham Mirshah Original Article: http://amabaltimore.org/3139/9-ways-promotional-products-work-for-your-business/ Promotional products are unparalleled in their ability to attract new clients, increase brand awareness and ultimately grow your business. We’ve all heard that phrase “you have to spend money to make money” haven’t we? But what, exactly, are we supposed to be spending our money on? I’ll tell you what.. Promotional Products! They are a proven, cost effective way of marketing your company to an extremely large audience while doing minimal work. Sounds efficient, does it not? If you’re new to the idea of promotional products, I understand that you might be hesitant. Despite any fears you may have, I strongly urge you to continue reading and discover just what quality promotional items can do for your company. 1.) Opening Lines of Communication The law of reciprocity: Give, and you shall receive. More often than not, giving a gift or item to an individual promotes a feeling that he/she should reciprocate for your kind gesture. In terms of promotional products, the giving of a product to someone else will make him or her more likely to do business with you. L.J. Market Research did a study that found 52% of participants given a promotional item, ultimately did business with that company. The remaining 48% of participants said they would be more likely to do business with that company in the future because of their gesture. Giving out promotional products is also a very effective way of starting a conversation with a potential customer. Handing something over allows you to “break the ice” and engage that person in conversation and because you gave them something, he or she is likely to listen to what you have to say. 2.) Drawing Attention “Hey, Hey! Look at ME!” Everyone wants to be the popular table at the trade-show, [...]

Customer, Company, Department, You

“Customer, Company, Department, You”  This is a mantra we’ve kicked around for a while and it sums up what we do. It all goes back to you, our customer. When we make decisions, whether it’s with orders or marketing or anything like that, we start with the customer in mind. What will benefit you the most? What is most important to you the customer? How can we be the best help to you? All of those thoughts are the primary driving force behind what we do. Next in the chain is the Company. After we create the best possible scenario for you our customer, the focus goes on what’s best for the company. Are we making the right fiscal decisions to ensure we are a viable company providing a great working environment for our close to seventy employees? We want Silkworm to be one of the best places to work and in order to do so we must focus on the company as a whole. Then we get to the Department. We have several different departments within Silkworm that work harmoniously in order to offer the best possible outcome for our customers. When we make decisions, after we have exhausted the criteria for our customers and the company as a whole, then we look at the departments. How might we tweak a system for a particular department in order to provide quality products with awesome customer service? Finally, we break it down to the individual, the last stop in the line. After we have taken care of our customer, the company, and then the department, it comes down to the individuals working to create the kind of experience that will make you our customer come back and tell your friends about us. What all of this means for you is [...]

Borrowing a line from the infamous Napoleon Dynamite; Kip & Napoleon Dynamite Napoleon Dynamite Hey can I use your guys’s phone for a sec? Secretary No. 1 Is there anything wrong? Napoleon Dynamite I don’t feel very good. (takes telephone and dials) Kip (making nachos on the other line) Hi. Napoleon Dynamite Is grandma there? Kip No, she’s getting her hair done. Napoleon Dynamite Ugh!! Kip What do you need? Napoleon Dynamite Can you just go get her for me? Kip I’m really busy right now. Napoleon Dynamite Just tell her to come get me. Kip Why? Napoleon Dynamite Cause I don’t feel good! Kip Well, have you talked to the school nurse? Napoleon Dynamite No, she doesn’t know anything. Will you just come get me? Kip No. Napoleon Dynamite Well, will you do me a favor then? Can you bring me my chapstick? Kip No, Napoleon. Napoleon Dynamite But my lips hurt real bad! Kip Just borrow some from the school nurse. I know she has like five sticks in her drawer. My favorite promotional item is the lip moisturizer ball from Hit Promotional Products. Customized Lip Balm is one of the best creative advertising methods for trade show giveaways, corporate gifts, and also works great at tourist destinations as Souvenir Lip Balm for people to keep with them and easily advertise your name to the world effortlessly. Plus when your “lips hurt real bad,” your business can be the hero. Personally, I use it every day and it is by far my favorite chapstick, which could very well be an obsession of mine. There are a few different color options for the actual hard shell that is on the outside: black, blue, fuchsia, lime green, red and white. It comes in a unique circle shape which I like [...]

Tis’ the Season for Giving: Gifts for Winter

‘Tis the season to put your body to the test! To be blunt, it’s cold; darn cold. You can’t just “wing it” in the winter, so we have come up with a few products that will help you and your customers through this trying time. Hats Winter hats are a must-have during this cold season. When deciding on a hat, two factors that are important are style and functionality. No one wants a hat that’s cute, but doesn’t keep your head warm, or one that is very warm, but makes you look weird. Fleece, knit styles, and even heavy cotton are good options when it comes to picking something warm. If you’re looking to buy hats for a corporate event or for a large group of employees, then check out Cap America’s knit beanie styles. Choose your own custom art, whether it’s cuffed or un-cuffed, and even if you want a pom on the top. These caps are completely customizable. If you’re feeling matchy, they also have scarves that you can personalize as well. Gloves Not everyone likes to wear gloves. In an office survey, only 33% of people actually wear them. There were many reasons why people don’t like them. Three of the most prevalent reasons for not wearing them are: Not being able to use your touch screen phone. They get in the way of doing simple things, such as unlocking a car. They’re bulky and hard to get on and off, quickly. While these are all valid reasons, there are many solutions to these problems. There are special touch screen gloves that allow you to keep them on and still use your phone; there are slim fit styles that are good for dexterity and simple movements, and also fingerless gloves are good for quick removal. Whatever gloves [...]

What Makes a Great Swag Bag?

By

Sep 22, 2015 In the Industry , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Comments are off

What Makes a Great Swag Bag? The best custom swag for your next event. First things first, what is a swag bag? A swag bag is a gift bag given to show appreciation, boost employee loyalty, or create or improve brand awareness. Everyone loves swag bags but creating the perfect combination of items for the bag determines if the bag makes it home or to the nearest trash can. Creating the perfect swag bag can be harder than it seems so we’ve researched (basically just asked people) what is actually appreciated in a swag bag. Let’s face it, we’ve all been to one of those conferences where they hand you a bag full of coupons, a sticker, a pen that doesn’t work and if you’re lucky maybe a notebook. You think “wow, I feel so UNappreciated.” So why even bother with swag bags? Swag bags, when done right, can leave attendees with a feeling of value and it’s a way to keep them thinking about your brand after the event. We get it, you are on a tight budget. There is no rule that you have to spend a lot on swag bags. Swag bags from the Oscars and other award shows are usually a hot conversation in social media and many celebs auction off their swag for charity but those high priced swag bags aren’t the benchmark. Swag bags can be personalized to capture any audience with the right amount of creativity. You can treat swag bags as mini event survival packages, fill them with items attendees can use after the event or a combination of the two. To help, we’ve gathered a few ideas from some event pros. Good Swag Bag Items T-Shirts: You can never have too many t-shirts. Our advice, keep it simple with just a [...]

Billy Meyer, purchasing agent and shipping & receiving legend has been with Silkworm for four years. When he was in desperate need of a job, a few of Billy’s buddies recommended Silkworm and boom, here he is four years later. Billy’s favorite part about his job is the people he gets to interact with daily. “I could leave here today having met Silkworm folk that I consider true friends” says Billy. Silkworm is proud of its company morale and the people it employs. Silkworm wishes to continue making its employees happy, establishing great company spirit. “When you work with people like that, it’s hard to ask for much more” says Billy. Silkworm is a place where memories are made. With Silkworm’s many company outings and incentives, it is a place to work hard and play hard at the same time. Billy’s favorite memory was during FiSH Week. FiSH Week celebrates the FiSH philosophy: enjoying what you do, get everyone involved and making peoples’ day. Fun activities are planned throughout this week. “I dominated almost every game and walked out with a thousand coins and hundreds in gift certificates” says Billy. In his free time, Billy enjoys playing a little rock and roll, fishing and spending time with his wife and daughter. Silkworm is a great place to work because of its family-oriented attitude. Silkworm tries to get the whole family involved its activities. Billy’s work ethic is best described by the songs, Eye of the Tiger and 2 Legit 2 Quit. He works hard to ensure great service and quality for every customer order. “People call me Billdozer around here,” Billy states, “The tagline for my life is ‘The other white meat.” Silkworm is a great place to work and have a good time.
